When developing its own automatic chronograph movement, Hublot wanted it to be, like all its creations, the first, different and unique. As the soul of the watch, this “open heart” movement reveals its completely reinvented design, with a double coupling system and column wheel on the dial side, as well as a 72-hour power reserve. Its construction consists of 354 components that have been simplified to the maximum to improve its reliability and robustness.
In 1980, Hublot revolutionized watchmaking by combining an 18-carat gold case with a rubber strap for the first time, resulting in the creation of a new type of watch. This bold combination was the first expression of the “Art of Fusion”, which would become the hallmark of the manufacture. Since then, rubber has established itself as one of Hublot’s flagship materials and one of the emblems of its contemporary approach to watchmaking.
